A new cooperation agreement is intended to support local authorities with waste-management expertise and skills development.
Botswana and Zimbabwe signed a memorandum of understanding in Gaborone covering waste management. President Duma Boko called for quicker movement from policy discussions to implementation as the two sides outlined the next stages of cooperation.
The initiative envisages further contracts and technical arrangements involving Geo Pomona Waste Management. The stated priorities include stronger municipal capacity, integrated waste systems and the transfer of practical skills. The memorandum begins a process of further engagement rather than confirming that every proposed project is already under way.
