Discussions in Kgatleng have focused on helping social support build sustainable livelihoods while responding to local needs.
A consultation with district authorities examined Botswana’s proposed social-protection reforms. Task-team leadership encouraged communities to consider the resources and opportunities available in their own areas when developing livelihood initiatives.
Participants also identified obstacles affecting service delivery, including outdated frameworks, overlapping benefits and shortages of specialised staff. The discussions reflected a shift towards support that strengthens long-term resilience, while recognising that districts face different conditions and cannot all rely on an identical approach.
